I’m a massive fan of sweet wines but have never bought a bottle to have at home. This is because I thought that once opened you had to finish it. So due to the fact that my wife doesn’t like sweet wine I’ve not bothered. Well all that is about to change as I was advised by a very good sommelier that once opened and if you keep it in the fridge it will last a few days. With this in mind I decided to treat myself to a Muscat de St Jean de Minervois while I was in my local Sainsbury’s. I opted for this one for a few reasons. The first was that it was rated 9 for sweetness , secondly the Orange Peel & Honey flavours really appealed & finally priced at £5.25 looked amazing value for money especially as I was buying one for the first time. I read the notes on the back saying that it would match perfectly with Citrus desserts. So then my next stop would be a visit to my local patisserie Le Moulin to purchase a Tarte au Citron.
This in fact turned out to be a match made in heaven. I tried the wine first and yes it was fabulously sweet. There was a strong honey aroma on the palate with a light orange flavour in the background. This however became more delicate all round once you started to drink it along with eating the Tarte au Citron making the whole experience an absolute delight.

So if you like sweet wines this is one that I would highly recommend trying. This has now given me the willingness to purchase more in the future so keep an eye out as there will be more on the way.
