When we heard the news that our area was moving into Tier 3 which meant that the hospitality industry would have to close down once again I immediately thought about trying to do something special for a Boxing Day treat. As we’d had the pleasure of eating at a couple of Adam Handling’s restaurants in the past this led me to think about his home delivery service Hame. So I looked on their website and as luck would have it they were doing a Xmas Lunch package. Our only slight concern was that as it gets delivered on the 23rd would it be ok for Boxing Day. I was totally reassured by Adam himself that it would be absolutely fine so in went our order.

The menu consisted of 2 x Sourdough & Chicken Butter , Cheese Doughnuts , Turkey or Beef Wellington with all the trimmings , Christmas Pudding or Spiced Tarte Tatin for dessert and a bottle of sparkling wine. It was priced at £250 to serve 3 – 4 people. The parcel arrived on the morning of the 23rd from Fed Ex in a large polystyrene container. When we opened it there was everything you need to make it as easy as possible for you on the day. Each dish not only comes with a card and instructions but if you scan the QR code you can watch Adam show you exactly how to assemble each course. Each bag is also colour coded so you can’t really go wrong. As we were unpacking the box there was a nice surprise in the form of a couple of extra dishes as well as a cocktail or to for us to enjoy. This led us to rethink our strategy so on Christmas Eve we decided to have the Sourdough Bread & Chicken Butter along with the Cheese Doughnuts and the English Sparkling Wine.

Now it’s on to Boxing Day itself where we started with the the first of the two surprise dishes. The Beef & Caviar Tartare with crispy sourdough was simply stunning. We then moved onto the second dish of Burrata , Romanesco & Leeks. which was absolutely delicious. These two courses involved no cooking whatsoever so ever. You just had to follow the simple instructions to prepare each dish.

This led us onto the main event which was to be the Beef Wellington with creamy mash , sprouts & bacon , parsnips & caesar salad. With all the information in front of you it was as easy as it could be to follow and the result was amazing. The beef wellington was perfectly cooked and all the accompaniments were absolute heaven.

We now needed a bit of a rest before moving on to dessert and the Christmas Pudding with a Brandy Creme Fraiche. This you could either cook in the oven or as we did put it in the microwave. The pudding which was full of fruit and along with the creme fraiche was amazing.

This brought to an end a fantastic lunch that was very easy to prepare and tasted amazing. I really wouldn’t hesitate to use Hame again and would highly recommend giving them a try yourselves. The food , wine , delivery & instructions are first class making it as easy as possible and therefore not tying you to the kitchen especially if your having friends round for lunch/dinner.

Thank You Adam I’m so pleased we chose Hame. All the best and see you in one of your restaurants again soon.
