My Amazing Foodie June

I have to say this month has been a real treat visiting some old favourites & some New places one of those being where the month started at Shackfuyu in Soho a delightful & friendly little restaurant serving excellent Japanese cuisine including the Iberico Pork Pluma . The following weekend  i stayed in my county of Essex where I tried a new place called Rubino Kitchen in Maldon a lovely little place set on a farm & the food was superb especially the Haddock Scotch Egg on the Sunday it was back to my favourite Haywards in Epping it never disappoints. So onto the following Saturday where I went to Chotto Matte to try the new Weekend Brunch Menu and the quality of the Nikkei cuisine was as good as always which included the fantastic Beef Short Rib. So where next we’ll actually it was back to Essex for a great Fathers Day lunch at the Two Brewers in Chigwell where the roast dinners were a nice hearty portion so will definitely return here. We’re into the last week now & on the Saturday we returned to Haywards for a lovely lunch to set us on our way as we celebrating our Anniversary over the next couple of days to which our Anniversary Eve dinner was at the amazing setting of Clivenden House but in The Astor Grill where the food & service was first class with the Chocolate Ganache dessert the star of the show. So to the highlight of the month our 25th Wedding Anniversary dinner for this we made a return to The Artichoke in Amersham for a fantastic Tasting Menu with the perfect selection of matching Wines made it a glorious evening. Well I hope you enjoy reading about this amazing month I know I’ve certainly enjoyed it. See you in July with some more new places

Shackfuyu – Iberico Pork Pluma
Rubino Kitchen – Haddock Scotch Egg
Chotto Matte – Beef Short Rib
Two Brewers – Roast Beef
The Astor Grill – Chocolate Ganache
Artichoke – Mackerel with Red Pepper Sorbet

First thing to say is that the drive up to Clivenden House is absolutely stunning then you avert your eyes to the right to see the glorious looking Astor Grill a amazing transformation of an old stable. A warm and friendly greeting on arrival makes you feel ready to enjoy your evening and we certainly did . The Astor Grill Menu is ideal for all of the family with a great variety of dishes .We started with delightful Crudités & Crispy Fried Queen Scallops before moving on to our starters of Prawn Cocktail also Burrata with Anchovies & Caramalised Onion both a real treat . Our mains was a glorious Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich & Fries plus a fantastic Pollock Dish wit Mussels and of course we had to have a side order of Truffed Triple Cooked Chips just heaven . The desserts were also amazing a Eton Mess & one of the best I’ve had a fantastic Chocolate Ganache. It’s a real relaxing setting with high quality family menu making it a perfect alternative to the excellent fine dining in Clivenden House and would highly recommend a visit to this stunning location . It certainly was a great way to our anniversary celebrations #foodie #hospitality #luxury

So it was Fathers Day and we hadn’t booked anywhere did a bit a bit of searching to find the Two Brewers  had availability so of we went and a great afternoon it turned out to be. There was plenty of space outside to enjoy our pre lunch drinks before moving inside for dinner . This was also a delight with a really good choice on the menu not just a Sunday Roast menu . We had a nice variety of starters between us from Soup , Mussels , Smokin Salmon & my delicious Scallops. Then the mains to which 3 of us enjoyed a nice hearty Roast Beef & myself a great tasting Steak Burger with some fantastic Onion Rings. For desserts 2 of us had a really delightful Lemon Tart. All the food was really good and the service was very friendly so I would recommend a visit to another great pub in Essex serving great Pub Grub #Essex #PubGrub #Hospitality

A lovely little restaurant set in a lodge on a farm in Maldon , Essex  and a real credit to the county as this small team under the guidance of Head Chef Rob produces some great and interesting dishes from using great local produce. It’s a small restaurant but has a great friendly feel from the moment you arrive until you leave . So onto the evening itself they have a good menu where you can choose from 1 to 5 courses which can come as a starter or main or as we did we went for the Tasting Menu so that we could try every course. We started with a nice and refreshing White Grape Gazpacho which was delicious before moving on to what was my favourite course the Haddock Scotch Egg with peas , raisin & curried puffed rice it was heaven then a Beef Carpaccio delightful followed by a Sweetcorn Risotto which came with Balsamic Vinegar interesting but it worked then to balance the Menu we had a lovely Cod with Octopus Caponata it was beautiful. Now onto the main course of Braised Lamb Tortellini & Smoked Aubergine Purée with Gem Lettuce & Beans a great hearty course to finish well almost because there’s always time for Desserts yes Desserts .  There were three on offer so of course we had to try them all the first being a Blackcurrant Panna Cotta with Honeycomb which I got to eat myself as my wife decided to have some Gorgonzola Cheese & Crackers next was Mille Feuille and to finish a Baked Alaska with Lemon Ice Cream nicely made by Dana . I have to say it was a really pleasant evening good food and very friendly service so look forward to returning one day #Restaurant #Maldon #Essex

Shackfuyu

A delightful Japanese lunch in the heart of Soho where the food & service was excellent . Had looked at the menu before we arrived and the Tasting Menu looked like a good idea which would enable us to try many dishes on the menu . This turned out to be our choice due to the  fact it was  highly recommended by our waiter Antonio who really looked after us even with his recommendation of Saki to accompany the meal. So now onto the menu where we started with some Edamame with sweet chilli soy a great way to start before moving on to the amazing Beef Tartare & Peppered Prawn Crackers a fantastic combination. Then came the best Prawn Toast ever absolutely so tasty this was followed by Korean Fried Wings which were slightly sweet but fantastic. We then moved to the main part of the manu of Miso Aubergine , Iberico Pork Pluma & Hot Stone Rice with sesame, chilli & beef definitely the highlight and worth waiting for to finish dessert was a real treat of Kinako French Toast & Ice Cream. All this and the truly great attentive service really made our visit a real pleasure. I would highly recommend a visit plus would also suggest you try the Tasting Menu aswell as it is not only amazing food but excellent value for money. This is a lovely little and very friendly restaurant and I will definitely look forward to a return visit myself #JapaneseFood #Soho

So into April we go and it started with something I love a lot sandwiches , cakes & pastries that made for a amazing Afternoon Tea at Claridges Hotel especially when you get 5 star service the following weekend it was off to the Artichoke to try the New Lunch Tasting Menu and fantastic it was to then in the Sunday a delightful Sunday Lunch at Marygreen Manor such a lovely location. This was followed by trying more New dishes at Haywards and as expected tasted great then to finish the month a delightful stay at Taplow House with a really good meal in Berry’s Restaurant that overlooked the hotels grounds . So that was a great month looking forward to May as I’ll be spending a lovely week in Lake Garda enjoying all things Italian. That’s all for now will update soon Happy Dining
